Dr.
Chetan Shingane in his research work tried to study efficacy of kasahar
yogavati in kaphaja kasa (cough).
Contents of Kasaharayog vati are as follows-
Triphala, Trikatu, Chitraka, Guduchi.
For
clinical study 50 patients of age group between 15 to 70 years of age were
included. These patients were divided into two groups.
Group 1 =
Clinical trial group of 25 patients treated with kasahara vati.
Group 2 =
Control group of 25 patients of kaphaja kasa were treated by Talisadi churna.
Single
blind controlled method had been followed for study. Patients having
complications such as tuberculosis, malignancy, pregnancy, vataja kasa, pittaja
kasa etc were excluded. 500 mg tablet of kasahara vati was administered after
meals for 7 days with plain water.
Patients
were assessed as per severity of symptoms like cough, expectoration, aruchi
etc.
Study was concluded as follows-
Tab Kasahar vati 500 mg BD for 7 days Showed same efficacy as Talisadi
Churna in the patients of Cough with expectoration ,but Tablet form found more user friendly than
Powder form.
Kasaharayog vati was more effective
in angagaurava( Heaviness of body) &
agnimandya ( Weak digestive fire) , aruchi than Talisadi churna. Talisadi
churna is more effective in kapha poorna vaksha( Chest) & chhardi ( Vomiting) . Both drugs show
same efficacy in kaphaja kasa( Cough with Expectoration) but vati kalpana is more user friendly for the
patients.
