Title:-Bilva Churna in Atisara ( Diarrhoea)
Dr. M. B. Tupe had submitted his/her
dissertation to Pune
University in 1997 for
the P.G. degree M.D. (Kaya Chikitsa). His/Her guide was Dr. M. D. Kamble &
Research center was Gune Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Ahamadnagar, (M.S.) India .
Dr.
M.B. Tupe in his/her research work tried to study efficacy of Bilva (Aegal
marmalos) churna on diarrhoea (Atisara)
Clinical
study included 100 patients of diarrhoea. Stool exam was used for one of the
assessment criteria Bilva churna was administered orally with honey.
The study was concluded as follows-
Administration of Herbal Powder i.e Bilva Churna showed very good results
in the patients of loose motion with mucus .
i)
Bilva
churna was not effective in patients having sama avastha.
ii)
Out
of 25 patients having mucus present in stool exam, 19 patients were benefited
by the drug & mucus absent was the report of their stool exam.
iii)
Before
treatment Amoeba was present in the stool of 8 patients out of these 7 patients
were benefited by the drug & after treatment stool exam report was Amoeba
absent.
iv)
Before
treatment Entamoeba histolytica was present in the stool of 10 patients
out of these 9 patients were benefited
v)
Out
of 8 patients with Giardia lamblia present in the stool all were benefited with
the drug.
vi)
Stool
with presence of ova of Ascaris lumbricoides in 4 patients
were also benefited by the drug.
vii)
Before
treatment Blood was present in the stool of 12 patients out of these 10
patients were benefited by the drug
viii)
Bilva
churna is cheaper easily available easily consumable drug.
